Built in 1967, by the Albina Engine and Machine Works of Portland, Oregon (hull #399) as the Western Comet for the Western Transportation Company of Portland, Oregon.

The tug was later acquired by Tidewater Barge Lines Incorporated of Vancouver, Washington. Where she retained her name.

In 2004, she was acquired by the Brusco Tug and Barge Company of Longview, Washington. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2011, she was acquired by the SDS Lumber Company of Bingen, Washington. Where the tug was renamed as the Wallace E.

She Is a twin screw towboat, rated at 3,000 horsepower.
