Built in 1971, by St. Louis Ship Incorporated of St. Louis, Missouri (hull #2841) as the Myra Eckstein for the Wisconsin Barge Line Incorporated of St. Louis, Missouri

In 1979, the tug was acquired by the Alter Barge Line Incorporated of Wynne, Arkansas. Where the tug was renamed as the Frank R. Alter. And, was operated by the Lawson and Lawson Towing Company Incorporated of Wynne, Arkansas.

In 2011, she was acquired by the Marquette Transportation Company of Jefferson, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Myra Eckstein.

Powered by two, Caterpillar 3612 diesel engines. With Falk reduction gears, at a ratio of 4.229:1. Turning two, 114(in) by 113.75(in), stainless steel, fixed pitch propellers. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 7,800 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, Cummins 6CTA8.3D generator sets. The tug's capacities are 110,998 gallon of fuel, and 1,243 gallon of lube oil.
