Built in 2008, by Thoma-Sea Boatbuilders Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #141) as the Peter F. Gellatly for Gellatly Criscione Services Incorporated of Point Pleasant, New Jersey.

In 2009, she was chartered to the Vane Brothers Company of Baltimore, Maryland. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2012, the tug was acquired by the Vane Brothers Company of Baltimore, Maryland. Where she retained her name.

In 2015, the Vane Brothers Company renamed the tug as the Long Island.

In 2023, she was phased out of active service and was "laid up" at Baltimore, Maryland.

Powered by two, Tier II compliant, Caterpillar 3516 diesel engines. With Reintjes WAF1137 reduction gears, at a ratio of 7.087:1. Turning via two, 9.5(in), shafts. Two Rolls-Royce, four bladed, stainless steel, GWAN 104(in), by 77(in) pitch, fixed pitch propellers. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 4,200 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, Tier II compliant, 99kW John Deere 6068T 120/208V generator sets. Her capacities are 85,900 gallons of fuel oil, 662 gallons of lube oil, 496 gallons of hydraulic oil, 662 gallons of gear oil, 8,816 gallons of potable water, 10,621 gallons of ballast water, 1,263 gallons of dirty bilge water, 1,306 gallons of dirty lube oil, and 3,898 gallons of grey / brown water.

The tug's towing gear consists of an INTERcon DD200, double drum, towing winch. With level wind, and capstan. Outfitted with 2,200(ft) of 2.75 (in) galvanized cable on the primary drum, and 1,000(ft) of 1.75(in) galvanized cable on the secondary drum.
