Built in 1995, by John Bludworth Marine Incorporated of Pasadena, Texas (hull #103) as the Miss Susan for Hollywood Marine Incorporated of Houston, Texas.

In 1998, the tug was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where she retained her name.

In 2017, the Kirby Corporation renamed the tug as the Sammy Tate.

In 2020, she was acquired by Colonial Towing Incorporated of Savannah, Georgia. Where the tug was renamed as the Tommy Gale.

Powered by two, Cummins KTA-38M1 diesel engines. She is a twin screw, towboat, rated at 2,000 horsepower.
