RUBY COAST

Built in 1979, by Main Iron Works Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #340) as the Reliance for Dixie Offshore Transport Incorporated of Houston, Texas.

In 1998, the tug was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where she retained her name.

In 2019, she was acquired by the Dann Marine Towing Company of Chesapeake City, Maryland. Where she was renamed as the Ruby Coast.

Powered by two, sixteen cylinder, EMD diesel engines. With Falk 3548 MRPF/MRSF reduction gears at ratio of 5.275:1. Turning two, cast steel, fixed pitch propellers. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 5,600 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 100kW Delco generator sets. Driven by two, V8-71 Detroit diesel engines. The tug's capacities are 173,194 gallons of fuel, 2,253 gallons of lube oil, 3,878 gallons of waste oil, 4,938 gallons of water.

The towing equipment consisted of a single drum, Markey towing winch. Outfitted with 2,000(ft) of 2.25(in) towing wire.
