Built in 1979, by the Albert Ortis Boat Building Company Krotz Springs, Louisiana (hull #30) as the Ray A. for Eckstein Marine Services of Jefferson, Louisiana. A division of the Marquette Transportation Company of Jefferson, Louisiana.

In 1984, Eckstein Marine Services renamed the tug as the Lauren Elizabeth.

In 2007, the tug was transferred to the Marquette Transportation Company of Marquette Transportation Company of Jefferson, Louisiana. Where she retained her name.

Re powered in 2002, she is powered by two, Caterpillar 3412 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 7:1. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,250 horsepower.
