Built in 1997, by Johnson Shipbuilding Incorporated of Bayou LaBatre, Alabama (hull #143) as the St. Rita for Eckstein Marine Services of Jefferson, Louisiana. A division of the Marquette Transportation Company of Jefferson, Louisiana.

In 2007, the tug was transferred to the Marquette Transportation Company of Jefferson, Louisiana. Where she retained her name.

Powered by two, Caterpillar 3412 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 6.55:1. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,250 horsepower.
