Built in 1977, by Harvey F. Gamage of South Bristol, Maine (hull #269) as the fishing vessel Pauli Girl for an individual Anton Graf Jr. of Newburyport, Massachusetts.

In 2010, the vessel was acquired by SPS New England Incorporated of Salisbury, Massachusetts. Where she was converted to a towing vessel, and renamed as the Virginia.

Powered by two, Tier III compliant, Cummins QSM11 diesel engines. With ZF reduction gears, at a ratio of 3:1. Turning two, 34(in), four bladed, stainless steel, fixed pitch propellers, mounted in kort nozzles. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 810 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by a Tier III compliant, 5kW Northern Lights generator set. The tug's capacities are 1,300 gallons of fuel.
