Built in 1979 by Nichols Boat & Barge at Vancouver, Washington as the Umatilla (hull #P-22) for the Shaver Transportation Company of Portland, Washington.

In 2012, the tug's original twin Detroit Diesels were replaced with MTU units.

Her powerplant consists of two MTU diesels turning twin screws with Sheffield nozzles and Deflector high-left rudders, for a rated 2,280 horsepower.
