Built in 1982, by Horton Boats Incorporated of Bayou LaBatre, Alabama (hull #227) as the Margaret Eymard for the Eymard Towing Company of Marrero, Louisiana.
In 1987, the tug was acquired by Dawn Offshore Services Incorporated of Gretna, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Break of Dawn.
Powered by two, GM 16V149NA diesel engines. With Twin Disc MG-540 reduction gears. Turning two, 72(in), stainless steel, fixed pitch propellers, mounted in kort nozzles. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 2,400 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, 40kW generators, driven by two, GM 4-71 diesel engines. The tug's capacities are 56,000 gallons of fuel, 720 gallons of lube oil, and 10,000 gallons of potable water.
The towing equipment consists of double drum, Intercontinental towing winch.
