
Built in 1957, by the Diesel Shipbuilding Company of Jacksonville, Florida (hull #74) as the Joseph A.
The tug was later acquired by the P and L Towing and Transportation Company of Miami, Florida. Where the tug retained her name.
In 2020, she was was phased out of active service and was "laid up" at Miami, Florida.
Powered by two, GM 12V71 diesel engines. With Twin Disc MG-514 reduction gears, at a ratio of 5.00:1. Turning two, 64(in) by 44(in) fixed pitch, four bladed, stainless steel propellers. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 1,200 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, 40kW Perkins generator sets. The tug's capacities are 8,500 gallons of fuel, 35 gallons of lube oil, and 1,500 gallons of water.
