Built in 1970, by Big River Shipbuilding Incorporated of Vicksburg, Mississippi (hull #21) as the Martha May for Ole Man River Towing Incorporated of Vicksburg, Mississippi.

In 2006, the tug was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where she was renamed as the Louie Leon.

In 2019, she was acquired by Carlisle and Bray Enterprises Incorporated of Covington, Kentucky. Where the tug was renamed as the Covington.

Powered by two, GM 12-645E2 diesel engines. With Lufkin reduction gears, at a ratio of 3.541:1. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 3,200 horsepower.
