BREAKER II

Built in 2020, by Blount Boats of Warren, Rhode Island (hull #NYPA-372) as the Breaker II for the New York Power Authority of White Plains, New York.

Designed with a reinforced hull for ice breaking, she will operate during the ice season within the upper Niagara River. To prevent ice flow from clogging the intakes for the hydroelectric power plant, and for installing and removing ice booms.

Powered by two Tier III compliant, Caterpillar C-9 diesel engines. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 750 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two 27eKW Tier III compliant Caterpillar C2.2 diesel engines.
