Built in 1982 by Dakota Creek Industries at Anacortes, Washington (hull #18) as the Arctic Gull for Alaska Marine Lines Incorporated of Juneau, Alaska, a subsidiary of Lynden Incorporated of Seattle, Washington.

Powered by two Caterpillar Model 3408 diesel engines. With Twin Disc 514 reduction gears, at a ratio of 2.5:1. Turning two fixed pitch, 35.5(in) by 32(in) propellers. For a rated 750 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by a single, 40kW, Caterpillar generator set. The tug's capacities are 3,500 gallons of fuel, and 100 gallons of lube oil.
