MATHILDA FOSS (1909)

Built in 1909, by Willamette Iron and Steel of Portland, Oregon as the Captain Gregory Barrett for the United States Army.

In 1931, the vessel was retired by the Army and sold. She was acquired by George L. Machris of Los Angeles, California and renamed as the Gordon.

In 1936, she was acquired by the Foss Launch and Tug Company of Tacoma, Washington. Where the vessel was rebuilt as a diesel tugboat and renamed as the Mathilda Foss.

In 1943, the tug was requisitioned for service by the United States Navy. Where she was designated as the YT-336 (Skenandoa).

In 1944, the Navy reclassified her as the YTM-336 (Skenandoa).

In 1946, the tug was returned to the Foss Launch and Tug Company of Tacoma, Washington. Where she was renamed as the Mathilda Foss.

In 1964, the tug was listed as abandoned, but apparently went to Alaska to serve as a floating dormitory, renamed as the Roxanne.

Eventually the tug became derelict and sank in 1978.
