Built in 2012 by Diversified Marine Incorporated of Portland, Oregon (hull #25) as the Sommer S. (hull #24) for the Shaver Transportation Company of Portland, Oregon.

Named in memory of Sommer Sondra Shaver, sister of Shaver Transportation Company president Steve Shaver.

In 2023, the tug was chartered to the Moran Towing Corporation of New Canaan, Connecticut. Where she retained her name.

Powered by two, MTU 16V 4000 M61 diesel engines. With Schottel SRP 1215 z-drives, outfitted with two, four-bladed, 96(in), stainless steel propellers. She is a twin screw tractor tug, rated at 5,364 horsepower.

The tug's capacites are 23,700 gallons of fuel, and 2,500 gallons of potable water. Her electrical service is provided by two, 145kW, Cummins 6CTA 8.3 generator sets.

The towing equipment consists of a single drum, 50 horsepower, Markey DEPCF-48 electric, render-recover, ship-assist winch. Outfitted with 500(ft) of Samson AmSteel-Blue 8(in) line on her bow. As well as two, Wintech barge winches. Outfitted 150(ft) of 1.5(in) AmSteel-Blue line, and a Markey capstan mounted on her stern.
