Built in 1955, with the hull being constructed by the Nashville Bridge Company of Nashville, Tennessee (hull #1058). And the superstructure being completed by the Alabama Dry Dock and Shipbuilding Company of Mobile, Alabama as the Caroline for the Canal Barge Company Incorporated of New Orleans, Louisiana.
In 1991, the tug was acquired by the Magnolia Marine Transport Company of Jackson, Mississippi. Where she was renamed as the Robert Y. Love.
In 2003, the Magnolia Marine Transport Company renamed the tug as the Katherine Berry.
In 2006, the Magnolia Marine Transport Company renamed the tug as the Grace.
In 2008, she was acquired by the Excell Marine Corporation of Cincinnati, Ohio. Where the tug was renamed as the Capt. Wes Gossett.
In 2022, the tug was scrapped.
Repowered in 1992, she was driven by two GM 12-567C diesel engines. With Falk reduction gears at a ratio of 2.5:1. She was a twin screw towboat, rated at 2,400 horsepower.
