Built in 1978, by the Louis G. Ortis Boat Company of Krotz Springs, Louisiana (hull #42) as the Gulf Express for Gulf Lake Marine Incorporated of Harvey, Louisiana.

In 1994, the tug was acquired by Marine Inland Transportation Company of Marrero, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Marine Merit.

In 2001, she was acquired by the Equipment Chartering Company Incorporated of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Where the tug was renamed as the Melissa Anne.

In 2006, the tug was acquired by the Eymard Brothers Towing Company Incorporated of Marrero, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the K.C. Eymard.

In 2008, she was acquired by Mary Cowden of Kingsport, Tennessee. Where the tug was renamed as the Harlan Richardson. And was operated by Richardson Marine LP. of Houston, Texas.

In 2013, the tug was acquired by Maconori Enterprises LP. of Galena Park, Texas. Where she retained her name.

In 2023, she was acquired by the North American Marine Company LLC. of Bellevue, Iowa. Where she was renamed as the H. Michael Yuhas. And, is operated by Riverview Tug Service Incorporated of Bellvue, Iowa.

Repowered in 2012, she is driven by two Mitsubishi S6R-Y2MPTK3 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 7:1. Turning two, fixed pitch propellers. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,200 horsepower.
