SUMMITT

Built in 2024 by McGinnis Inc. of South Point, Ohio (hull #2301) as the Summitt for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, of Nashville, Tennessee .

Named in honor of legendary Lady Vols basketball coach, Pat Summitt.

The tug is paired with a 80-foot vehicle barge, Volunteer , for TDOT's Benton-Houston ferry service. The tug and barge connect through a frame installed roughly amidships on the barge's starboard side. This allows the tug to remain on the down-river side for every crossing. Connections to the barge are made via a tongue at the bow, allowing the tug to pivot 180 degrees while the barge is docked, while the stern is secured via pneumatic hook mechanisms. There are also hand winches at the bow to provide additional security in rough weather.

Powered by two, Tier III compliant, John Deere 6065ASM85 diesel engines. With Twin Discl SMG-5091DC drives, at a ratio of 3.83:1. for a rated 800 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided one, Tier IV compliant, 30kW, Kubota KKW-30.0 generator.

The towing gear consists two Wintech WK-3600-08 aft, and two Nabrico 2-ton hand winches, mounted on the bow.
