Built in 1981, by L and A Boat Works Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #108) as the Capt. Ted Crosby for the Crosby Marine Transportation Company of Golden Meadow, Louisiana.

In 1992, the Crosby Marine Transportation company renamed the tug as the Capt. Crosby.

In 2022, she was phased out of active service. And was "laid up" at Houma, Louisiana.

Powered by two, GM 8V-92 diesel engines. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 900 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 20kW generator sets. The tug's capacities are are 8,000 gallons of fuel oil, and 3,500 gallons of potable water.
