Built in 1976, by Main Iron Works Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #304) as the J.A.G. for Gravios Tugs Incorporated of Cut Off, Louisiana.
In 1978, the tug was acquired by Belle Pass Towing of Golden Meadow, Louisiana. Where she retained her name.
In 1985, she was acquired by Compass Marine Incorporated of Mobile, Alabama. Where she was renamed as the Mischief.
In 1988, Compass Marine Incorporated renamed the tug as the Gerry Bordelon.
In 1990, the tug was acquired by the Eastern Maine Towing Company of Waite, Maine. Where she was renamed as the Mary B. Sessa.
In 1991, she was acquired by American Workboats of Honolulu, Hawaii. Where she was renamed as the American Champion.
Powered by two Caterpillar diesel engines. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 3,800 horsepower.
