Built in 1997, by Marco Seattle Incorporated of Seattle, Washington (hull #473) as the Namahoe for the Smith Maritime Company of Honolulu, Hawaii. Which was a part of the Hawaiian Interisland Towing Company of Honolulu, Hawaii.
In 2007, the Smith Maritime Company was acquired by the K-Sea Transportation Partnership Incorporated of East Brunswick, New Jersey. Where the tug retained her name.
In 2011, the K-Sea Transportation Partnership Incorporated was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.
In 2017, she was phased out of active service. And, she was "laid up" at the Kirby Corporation's facilities in Honolulu, Hawaii.
She was powered by two, Caterpillar 3516B diesel engines. With Ulstein 1650H azimuthing z drives. For a rated 4,400 horsepower.
