Built in 1950, by RTC Shipbuilding of Camden, New Jersey (hull #197) as the Resolute for the Baker Whiteley Towing Company of Baltimore, Maryland.

In 1980, the Barker Whiteley Towing Company was acquired by the McAllister Brothers Towing Company of New York, New York. Where the tug was renamed as the David McAllister.

In 1997, McAllister Towing and Transportation renamed the tug as the Resolute. Before placing her out of service.

In 2011, the tug was acquired by Patriot Marine Incorporated of Winthrop, Massachusetts. Where she was renamed as the Ocean King.

In 2021, the tug was scrapped.

She was a single screw tug, rated at 1,800 horsepower.
