Built in 1971, by Blount Shipyard of Warren, Rhode Island (hull #VB-165) as the Duff for the Vane Brothers Company of Baltimore, Maryland.

Named for company president C. Duff Hughes. She entered service on September 9th, 1971. She was the first motor tanker commissioned by Vane Brothers.

The 42,000 gallon (or 1,000 barrel) tanker expanded Vane Brother's light-oil fueling business.

In 2009, she was retired from service and acquired by Maine Coastal Petroleum of Tenants Harbor, Maine. Where she was renamed Capt Ray O'Neil.
