Built in 1968, by Yates Marine Construction of South Charleston, West Virginia (hull #26) as the Wilbur H. Ruese for the Indiana-Kentucky Electric Company of Madison, Indiana.

In 1995, the tug was acquired by the Madison Coal and Supply Company of Charleston, West Virginia. Where she was renamed as the Florence T.

In 2010, the Madison Coal and Supply Company, become Amherst Madison Incorporated of Charleston, West Virginia. Where the tug retained her name.

Repowered in 2006. The tug is a twin screw pushboat, rated at 800 horsepower.
