Built in 1967, by the Equitable Equipment Company Incorporated of Madisonville, Louisiana as the Lisa Maria for the New York City Sanitation Department of New York, New York.

The tug was named for the then, New York City Sanitation Commissioner Samuel Kearing's daughter, Lisa Maria Kearing.

She was later acquired by the Bronx Towing Line Incorporated of New York, New York. Where she was renamed as the Bronx 1.

The tug was later acquired by the Buchanan Marine Limited Partnership Incorporated of New Haven, Connecticut. Where she was renamed as the Buchanan 1.

Powered by two, Tier II compliant, Caterpillar 3512B diesel engines. She a twin screw tug, rated at 2,200 horsepower.
