Built in 1980, by Horton Boats Incorporated of Bayou La Batre, Alabama (hull #211) as the Rodney Mitchell for M and W Marine Service Incorporated of Belle Chasse, Louisiana.
In 1994, the tug was acquired by the Crosby Marine Transportation Company of Golden Meadow, Louisiana. Where she retained her name.
In 2021, she was phased out of active service and was "laid up" at Houma, Louisiana.
Powered by two, Caterpillar 3408 diesel engines. Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 6:1. Turning two, stainless steel, fixed pitch propellers. She was a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,000 horsepower.
Her electrical service was provided by two, 30kW generator sets. The tug's capacities were 12,000 gallons of fuel oil, and 2,500 gallons of potable water.
