Built in 1980, by Main Iron Works of Houma, Louisiana (hull #353) as the David Foss for the Foss Maritime Company of Seattle, Washington.
In 1980, the tug was transferred to the Dillingham Tug and Barge Company of Honolulu, Hawaii. A subsidy of the Foss Maritime Company of Seattle, Washington.
In 2006, the Foss Maritime Company acquired the Constellation Maritime Company of Manchester, Massachusetts. And, the tug was transferred to operations in Boston, Massachusetts. Where she was renamed as the Volans.
In 2011, the Constellation Maritime Company was absorbed back into the Foss Maritime Company of Seattle, Washington. Where the tug retained her name. And, remained in Boston, Massachusetts.
In 2012, the tug was acquired by the McAllister Towing and Transportation Company of New York, New York. Where she was renamed as the David McAllister.
In 2016, she was acquired by the Tradewinds Towing Company of St. Augustine, Florida. Where the tug was renamed as the Hannah. Named for the sister of Tradewinds Towing Company President, Captain Dominque Smith.
Originally powered by two, CaterpillarD-398 diesel engines. With CAT 7261 reduction gears, at a ratio of 4.65:1. Turning two, 76(in) by 76(in), fixed pitch, propellers. Mounted in kort nozzles, with flanking rudders. She was a twin screw tug, rated at 2,379 horsepower.
In 2016, the Tradwinds Towing Company re powered the tug with two, Mitsubishi S12R diesel engines. With Reintjes WAF 562 reduction gears, at a ratio of 6:1. Turning two, 76(in) by 76(in), four bladed, fixed pitch propellers. Mounted in kort nozzles, outfitted with flanking rudders. For a rated 2,600 horsepower. As well as outfitting the tug with an upper wheelhouse.
The tug's capacities are 23,500 gallons of fuel, 395 gallons of lube oil, 450 gallons of hydraulic oil, and 4,000 gallons of potable water.
Her towing equipment consists of and INTERcon SD-150, single drum, towing winch. Outfitted with 2,000(ft) of 1.5(in) towing wire. As well as a Foss MK 2, bow winch. Outfitted with 150(ft) of 1.125(in) towing wire.
