Built in 1967, by McDermott Shipyard Incorporated of Morgan City, Louisiana (hull #142) as the Richard Foss for the Foss Maritime Company of Seattle, Washington.
In 2008, the tug was transferred to AmNAV Maritime Services of Oakland, California. A subsidiary of the Foss Maritime Company of Seattle, Washington. Where she renamed as the Richard.
In 2012, AmNAV Maritime Services was reabsorbed back into Foss Marine Holdings of Seattle, Washington. Where the tug was renamed as the Sir Richard.
In 2015, she was phased out of service, and was "laid up" at the Foss Maritime Company's yard in the Lake Washington Canal in Seattle, Washington.
Powered by two, EMD 12-645-E2 diesel engines. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 3,000 horsepower.
