Built in 1974, by Main Iron Works Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #267) as the David Reese for the Belle Pass Towing Company of Golden Meadow, Louisiana.

In 2013, the Belle Pass Towing Company was acquired by the Crosby Marine Transportation Company of Golden Meadow, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Crosby Challenger.

In 2016, the tug was acquired by the Next Generation Marine Company of Metairie, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Compass Dominator.

In 2021, she was acquired by the Crosby Marine Transportation Company of Golden Meadow, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Webb Crosby.

Powered by two, Alco 12:251 diesel engines. With Reintjes reduction gears, at a ratio of 5:1. Turning two, 102(in) by 114(in) four bladed, stainless steel, propellers, mounted in kort nozzles. For a rated 4,200 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 75kW generator sets. Driven by two GM 6V-71 diesel engines. The tug's capacities are 90,000 gallons of fuel, 20,000 gallons of water, and 2,000 gallons of lube oil.

The towing gear consists of an INTERcon, double drum, towing winch. Outfitted with 2,000(ft) of 2(in) towing cable on the primary drum. And 2,000(ft) of 2(in) towing cable on the secondary drum.
