Built in 1974, by LeMay Barge and Supply Incorporated of Greenville, Mississippi (hull #330) as the Percy L. LeMay for Law Towing Services Incorporated of Greenville, Mississippi.

In 1986, the tug was acquired by the Sabine Transportation Company of Port Arthur, Texas. Where she was renamed as the Athena.

In 1998, she was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.

Powered by two, GM 8-645E2 diesel engines. She is a twin screw, square bow, push boat. Rated at 1,900 horsepower.
