A.J. McALLISTER (1939)

Built in 1939, by Canulette Shipbuilding Company of Slidell, Louisiana (hull #983) as the Rowen Card for the Card Towing Company of Norfolk, Virginia.

In 1940, she was acquired by the United States Navy. Where she was designated as the YN-44 (Tamaha). However, the tug was later redesignated as the YNT-12 (Tamaha).

In 1947, the tug was returned to the Card Towing Company of Norfolk, Virginia. Where the tug was renamed as the Rowen Card

In 1947, she was acquired by the McAllister Brothers Towing Company of New York, New York. Where she was renamed as the A.J. McAllister.

She has since been retired from service. Although, her documentation is still listed under her official number. Listings under her IMO number state she was sold to an undisclosed buyer.

However, her current and or final disposition is unknown. Repowered in 1960, she was a single screw tug rated at 1,800 horsepower.
