Built in 1967, by the Barker Barge Lines of Lockport, Louisiana as the Gulf Ace for the Gulf Fleet Marine Corporation of Houston, Texas.
In 1974, the tug was acquired by the McAllister Brothers Towing Company of New York, New York. Where she was renamed as the Andrew McAllister.
In 1975, she was chartered out, and renamed as the Polar Nomad.
In 1977, the tug was returned to the McAllister Brothers Towing Company of New York, New York. Where she was renamed as the Andrew McAllister.
In 1985, the tug sank after a collision near San Juan, Puerto Rico. She was a twin screw tug, rated at 3,200 horsepower.
