Built in 1959 by Marine Industries Limited (hull #258) at Sorel, Quebec, but never delivered. In 1966 the hull was towed to Point Ellice Shipyard at Victoria, British Columbia and completed as the Island Warrior for Island Tug and Barge Limited of Vancouver, British Columbia. A subsidiary of McAllister Towing Limited Montreal of Montreal.
In 1969, Island Tug and Barge Limited was acquired by Genstar Limited of Vancouver, British Columbia. Where the tug initially retained her name.
In 1971, Genstar Limited partnered with the Dillingham Corporation to merge Island Tug and Barge with the Vancouver Tug Boat Company, creating Seaspan Marine Incorporated of Vancouver, British Columbia. Where the tug was renamed as the Seaspan Warrior .
In 1991, the tug was acquired by Seatow Marine Limited of Vancouver, British Columbia. Where she was renamed as the Island Warrior II.
In 2002, she was acquired by AMIX Marine Services Limited of New Westminster, British Columbia. Where the tug was renamed as the Sea Warrior .
She is a twin-screw tug, rated at 1,530 horsepower.
