Built in 1900, by T.S. Marvel Shipbuilding of Newburgh, New York (hull #122) as the J.G. Rose for the Cornell Steamboat Company of New York, New York.

In 1950, the tug was acquired by the McAllister Brothers Towing Company of New York, New York. However, the tug was only acquired for scrapping only.

She was a single screw tug, rated at 250 horsepower.
