Built in 1951, by Levingston Shipbuilding of Orange, Texas (hull #467) as the William J. Tracy for the Avondale Towing Line Incorporated of New York, New York.

In 1970, the tug was acquired by the Red Star Towing Company of New York, New York. Where she was renamed as the Hartford.

In 1977, the Red Star Towing Company was acquired by the Hess Oil Corporation of New York, New York. To form the Spentonbush-Red Star Companies of Brooklyn, New York. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1989, the Spentonbush-Red Star Companies were acquired the Amerada Hess Oil Corporation of New York, New York. Establishing the Amerada Hess Oil Corporation's marine division.

In 1980, she was acquired by Captain Arthur Fournier of the Penebscot Bay Towing Company of Belfast, Maine. Where the tug initially retained her name.

In 1985, the the Penebscot Bay Towing Company renamed the tug as the Captain Bill.

In 1988, the tug was acquired by Winslow Marine Incorporated of Southport, Maine. Where she was renamed as the Gordon Winslow.

In 1990, she was acquired by Maineport Towboats Incorporated of Belfast, Maine. Where she was renamed as the Cape Jellison.

In 2000, the tug was acquired by Captain Arthur Fournier acquired Maineport Towboats Incorporated. Renaming the company as the Portland Tugboat and Shipdocking Company of Portland, Maine. Where the tug was renamed as the Hartford.

In 2001, the Portland Tugboat and Shipdocking Company was acquired by the McAllister Towing and Transportation Company of New York, New York. Where the tug initially retained her name.

In 2007, the McAllister Towing and Transportation Company renamed the tug as the Sharon Elizabeth.

In 2013, the tug was acquired by undisclosed foreign interests. And is no longer in documentation. Her current, and, or final disposition is unknown. She was a single screw tug, rated at 1,800 horsepower.
