Built in 1964, by the Nashville Bridge Company of Nashville, Tennessee as the Nell for the Industry Terminal and Salvage Company of Industry, Pennsylvania.

The tug was then acquired by the Madison Coal and Supply Company of Charleston, West Virginia. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2010, the Madison Coal and Supply Company, become Amherst Madison Incorporated of Charleston, West Virginia. Where the tug retained her name.

Repowered in 1989. She is driven by two Caterpillar 3508 diesel engines. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 1,400 horsepower.
