Built in 2007, by Washburn & Doughty Associates of East Boothbay, Maine (hull #91) as the Pati R. Moran for the Moran Towing Corporation of New Canaan, Connecticut.
She is an ATLANTIC IV class Articulated Tug and Barge (ATB) designed by Robert Hill of Ocean Tug and Barge Engineering of Milford Massachusetts.
Powered by two, twelve cylinder, EMD 12-645F7B diesel engines. With Lufkin reverse/reduction gears, at a nominal gear ratio of 4.5:1. Turning two, Rolls Royce, new generation, five bladed, 115(in) stainless steel, fixed pitch, propellers. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 5,100 horsepower.
Fitted with and INTERcon "C" coupler system. The tug is certified ABS A1 Towing Service and AMS, with an international load line. The tug also complies with applicable SOLAS regulations and is constructed of ABS Grade A Steel.
Her electrical service is provided by two, Tier II compliant, 65kW John Deere generator sets. As well as a third, Tier II complaint, 65 kW John Deere generator set. Which serves as an emergency generator. The tug's capacities are 105,000 gallons of fuel, 2,500 gallons of lube oil, 50,000 gallons of ballast water, 18,000 gallons of potable water, and 1,400 gallons of waste oil.
Her deck equipment consists of a Markey CEWP-90, 27(in) diameter, 40 horsepower, electric capstan on her stern. And, a Markey CEW-60, 15 horsepower, electric capstan on her bow.
She is married to the 425(ft) 118,000(bbls) barge the Charleston. Built in 2007, by the Manitowoc Marine Group of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin for the Moran Towing Corporation.
