Built in 1965, by John Bludworth Shipyard Incorporated of Houston, Texas (hull #61) as the Paragon for the Port Everglades Towing Company Incorporated of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

In 1992, the tug was acquired by the Crescent Towing and Salvage Company Incorporated of New Orleans, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Angus R. Cooper.

She is a twin screw tug, rated at 4,200 horsepower.
