CAPE CHARLES

Built in 1972, by McDermott Shipyard of Amelia, Louisiana (hull #176) as the Cape Charles for the Curtis Bay Towing Company of Baltimore, Maryland. An affiliate of the Moran Towing Corporation of New York, New York.

In 1988, the Curtis Bay Towing Company was absorbed into the Moran Towing Corporation. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2024, she was phased out of active service and was "laid up" at Norfolk, Virginia.

In 2024, the tug was acquired by the Seaward Marine Corporation of Norfolk, Virginia. Where the tug was renamed as the Bart L.

Powered by two, twelve cylinder, EMD 12-645-E2 diesel engines. Turning two, bronze, fixed pitch propellers. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 3,300 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 75kW generator sets. The tug's capacities are 44,909 gallons of fuel.
