Built in 1966 at Lockport, Louisiana as the Fred J Heebe for the Louisiana Marine Tugs Corporation of New Orleans, Louisiana.

In 1979, the Louisiana Marine Tug Corporation renamed the tug as the LAMCO II.

Later acquired by Island Tug and Barge of Seattle, Washington, where she was renamed as Gail S.

The tug sank on August 13, 1997 in Bristol Bay, Alaska with the loss of one crewman. Four others were rescued when the tug reported taking on water and sinking fast.
