Built in 1952 by G M Nichols Boatworks at Hood River, Oregon as the Fireball for Smith Tug and Barge Company of Rainier, Oregon.

In 1977, Smith Tug and Barge was acquired by the Knappton Towboat Company of Astoria, Oregon, where the tug retained her name.

The tug was eventually acquired by the Marine Equipment Leasing Company of Salem, Oregon, where she retained her name.

She was then acquired by Advanced American Construction of Portland, Oregon, where the tug was renamed as Lindy Marie.
