Designed by Guido Perla and Associates Incorporated of Seattle, Washington. She is the first Articulated Tug and Barge designed, and built for Seabulk Towing Services Incorporated.
Powered by two, eight cylinder, Wartsila W8L32 diesel engines. With Wartsila SCV95 reduction gears, at a ratio of 1:5,762. With a Barke, twin rudder system. She is a twin screw tug, rated 12,000 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, 250kW, Marathon 433PSL6216 generator sets. And a third auxiliary, 250kW, Marathon 433PSL6216 generator set. Tug's capacities are 157,948 gallons of fuel, 4,438 gallons of lube oil, 20,341 gallons of water, and 135,969 gallons of ballast.
Outfitted with an INTERcon coupler system. She is "married" to the 580(ft), by 78(ft), 185,000(bbl) barge, the Sea-Chem I. That was constructed simultaneously by DonJon Marine's Erie Shipbuilding of Erie, Pennsylvania for Seabulk Towing Services Incorporated of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
