Built in 1979, by Thrift Shipbuilding and Repair of Sulphur, Louisiana as the Habibi for the Harless Towing Company of South Point, Ohio.

In 1995, the tug was acquired by Dixie Marine Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where she was renamed as the Aransas.

In 2005, she was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2020, the tug was phased out of active service and was "laid up" at Houston, Texas.

Powered by two, Volvo 162C diesel engines. She was twin screw towboat, rated at 800 horsepower.
