Built in 1981, by the Louis G. Ortis Boat Company of Krotz Springs, Louisiana (hull #139) as the Janice Carol for Capital Towing Limited of Houston, Texas.

In 2005, the tug was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where she retained her name. Where she was operated by Capital Towing Limited of Houston, Texas.

In 2012, she was returned to the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2017, the tug was acquired by Matthews Marine Incorporated of Pass Christian, Mississippi. Where she was renamed as the Grand Ann.

Powered by two, Caterpillar 3408B diesel engines. She is a twin screw, towboat, rated at 1,000 horsepower.
