Built in 1976, by Superior Boat Works Incorporated of Greenville, Mississippi (hull #128) as the Leviticus for the Dow Chemical Corporation of Midland, Missouri.

In 1990, the tug was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where she retained her name.

Powered by two, GM 12-645E5 diesel engines. She is a twin towboat, rated at 4,200 horsepower.
