Built in 1972, by Halter Marine Services Incorporated of Lockport, Louisiana (hull #347) as the Lime Rock for the Chotin Transportation Company of New Orleans, Louisiana.

In 1998, the tug was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where she retained her name.

In 2018, she was acquired by Bellaire Marine Incorporated of Bellaire, Ohio. Where the tug was renamed as the the Julia A. Harrison II.

Repowered in 2008, she is driven by two Cummins K-38 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 7:1. The tug is a twin screw, towboat, rated at 2,000 horsepower.
