MARATHON

Built in 1970, by Main Iron Works Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #234) as the Marathon for the Sabine Towing Company of Port Arthur, Texas. A subsidy of the Chromalloy American Corporation of St. Louis, Missouri.

In 1980, the Chromalloy American Corporation was acquired by the Sequa Corporation of New York. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1992, the former assets of the Sabine Transportation Company where acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2020, she was phased out of active service and was "laid up" at Louisville, Kentucky.

She was a twin screw tug, rated at 1,020 horsepower.
