Built in 1967, by Main Iron Works Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #193) as the Renegade for Albert E. Magill Jr. of Houston, Texas.

In 1970, the tug was acquired by Dixie Marine Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where she was renamed as the Dixie Renegade.

In 1998, she was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2018, the tug was acquired by the Stevens Towing Company Incorporated of Yonges Island, South Carolina. Where she was renamed as the Island Boy.

Powered by two, Caterpillar C18 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 5:1. She is a twin screw, towboat, rated at 900 horsepower.
