Built in 1963, by the Williams McWilliams Company of Morgan City, Louisiana as the the Oakville for the Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company of Oak Brook, Illinois.

In 2005, the Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company renamed the tug as the Jack Newman.

In 2018, she was acquired by the Gore Marine Corporation of Townsend, Georgia.

She is a twin screw tug, rated 1,410 horsepower.
